South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli captured the third DP World Tour title of his career with victory at the Bahrain Championship presented by Bapco Energies after a closing round of one under 71 saw him reach 13 under for the tournament, two clear of fellow countryman Zander Lombard and Sweden’s Jesper Svensson. It was an emotional win for the 33 year old, who struggled for form on the PGA Tour last year and admitted he considered quitting the game.   “It feels great, it feels awesome,” said Frittelli, whose last DP World Tour win was six years ago at the AfrAsia…

Chile’s Joaquin Niemann got the 2024 LIV Golf League season off to a flying start when shooting a 12-under 59 in Friday’s opening round at Mayakoba in Mexico. In setting the El Camaleon course record, Niemann also becomes the second player in LIV Golf’s first 23 events to card a sub-60 round. Last year, Bryson DeChambeau shot a 12-under 58 at Greenbrier. After opening his round with a par on the second hole, Niemann birdied the next five holes, made one par and followed with two more birdies before holing out from the fairway for an eagle-2 at the par-4…

  Q. How is your game shaping up coming into the tournament coming off the first tournament at Hualalai? BERNHARD LANGER: Yeah, I felt rusty at Hualalai. I didn’t play my very best, but they also changed that golf course. It’s almost the opposite from Tiburón. It’s wide open. There’s no rough at all. There’s very little punishment if you spray it, and the bombers have a huge advantage. You look at the leaderboard, there were mostly bombers up there. The other thing that happened over the time off since the Schwab Cup, my mother passed away. She was 100. She…

  Q. Jon, how does it feel to be the captain of a team, and tell us a little bit about how you picked this amazing team JON RAHM: It’s definitely a different feel to what I’m used to, golf being quite an individual sport. To actually be thinking about part of management of any kind, it’s somewhat unusual for me. But the process was a little bit harder than what we would have liked to acquire all the players. Obviously Kieran being one of the qualifiers, I was up watching the back nine and saw his performance, and I…
