Rahm set to serve up a Spanish feast at Masters Champions Dinner

Jon Rahm has revealed the menu for his Champions Dinner ahead of The Masters, with the 2023 winner drawing heavily on his Spanish roots and even his grandmother’s home cooking.

Rahm triumphed by four shots at Augusta last year to win the green jacket and earn the honour of picking the 2024 pre-tournament dinner.

There will be a distinctively Iberian theme this year, with the 29-year-old’s menu starting with mix of tapas and pintxos, including spicy Basque chorizo and even ‘Mama Rahm’s Classic Lentil Stew’. The dish will be made to Rahm’s grandmother’s recipe by chef Jose Andres. ‘He called my grandma for the recipe so if somebody doesn’t like it, please don’t tell me,’ Rahm joked. ‘Don’t tell anyone actually!’

Rahm will then serve crab salad before offering a choice of ribeye steak or turbot for the main course. His Champions Dinner will conclude with Milhojas, a finely layered puff pastry dish served with custard and Chantilly cream.

Alongside the meal, past champions will be served a range of Spanish wines, including a white wine from Vizcaya called Txakoli, which is a dry wine that is specific to the Basque region, as well as a red wine called Imperial Rioja Gran Reserva.

Speaking about his choices, Rahm said: “I wanted to put a little bit of my heritage and my family into this dinner, which is going to make it even more special. Hopefully I will get to do it again someday, but I wanted to make sure the Basque heritage was there and I’m hoping the past champions really like it. They are all my favourites.”
