A new study has found that more than a third of all adults in the UK and Ireland participate in golf in some shape or form. The PGA research project, ‘Golf for All’, has found that 22.4 million adults in the UK and Ireland ‘engage with golf in any capacity’, equating to 40 percent of all adults. Of these, 4.9 million people play golf on a 9- or 18-hole course, while more than three times that number, 16.3 million, play other forms of golf such as adventure golf, pitch and putt, on a driving range or via a simulator. The England Senior Men’s team have been crowned European champions after a thrilling win over France in the final held at Marianske Lasne in the Czech Republic. England finished in third during the stroke play stages before the match play part of the competition, where they defeated Sweden in the quarter-finals, Ireland in the semi-finals and France in the final to lift the trophy. Sweden’s Vincent Norrman fired a final round 65 to storm to the top of the leaderboard at the Irish Open on Sunday and claim his second tour title in the space of just two months. Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini secured a second victory on LETAS this season by winning the Rose Ladies Open at Brocket Hall. The 24-year-old had a stunning final day carding nine birdies and two bogeys to finish on 12-under-par, two shots ahead of fellow friend and Swiss player Elena Moosmann. Nicola Taylor and 14-year-old twins Annabel Peaford and Emily Peaford helped their team win the event by 14 shots ahead of Ganton Golf Club. Emily’s 74 and 67, along with sister Annabel’s pair of 70s across both days, helped them to a comfortable victory.
