English rising stars Billie-Jo Smith and Megan Dennis are among seven players who are celebrating earning promotion to the Ladies European Tour for next season after topping the points list at the end of the 2024 LET Access Series schedule. The pair finished second and fourth respectively in the Order of Merit following the conclusion of the season at the weekend, which saw Smith lose out in a play-off to fellow Englishwomen Ellie Gower at the Calatayud Ladies Open in Spain. The duo will be joined by Kajsa Arwefjall, Tina Mazarino, Anna Magnusson, Natacha Host Husted and Ariane Klotz on Europe’s…

The Frenchwoman began the day in a share of the lead alongside China’s Xiyu Lin on 12-under-par on the World Cup Course at Mission Hills China. Major winner Boutier had a flawless final day firing a seven-under 66 to seal her sixth victory on Tour with a score of 19-under-par. “It was a great round,” said the Solheim Cup star. “I definitely feel like we started really hot with Janet, so it was fun to be able to battle…
Tyrrell Hatton has made history after becoming the first ever three-time winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. The 32-year-old started his love affair with the event when he claimed his first title in 2016 before successfully defending his crown 12 months later, but a two under par round of 70 today earned him a spot in the history books. Hatton, now a seven-time winner on the DP World Tour, went toe-to-toe with Nicolas Colsaerts at the Old Course St Andrews before a closing birdie saw him reach 24 under and finish one clear of his Belgian rival. Hatton had…
Tyrrell Hatton posted a record-equalling 61 at the Old Course at St Andrews to take a one-shot lead into the final round as he stepped up his bid to become the first three-time winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Hatton, who won this event in 2016 and 2017 and has also recorded two runner-up finishes, continued his love affair with the unique tournament by firing an eagle and nine birdies at the Old Course St Andrews to tie Ross Fisher’s course record. Hatton also leads the Team Championship alongside dad Jeff by three shots on -38, as they aim…
Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley says the home of The Masters suffered extensive damage from last week’s Hurricane Helene but vows the tournament will be played next April as planned. Ridley said Augusta National suffered “a lot of damage” from the storm, knocking out electricity and water at the famed course. “There was a lot of damage and we have a lot of people working hard to get us back up and running. We’ve had dozens of people working at the club, and what I really have been most proud of is while everyone certainly is focused on getting us…
The rules regarding general winter play, including when preferred lies can be applied, have been updated by England Golf. The preferred lies rule, which allows players to take free relief in the fairway, has historically only been in place during the winter months – generally October 1 to April 30 – but now it can be used at any time during the season. Clubs who had to deal with inclement conditions outside of that seven-month period previously had to ask their county unions for permission to bring in the Local Rule on a temporary basis. Now that barrier has been…
Caddington Golf Club in Bedfordshire is to close next week after it was sold to a private developer. The final rounds at the Luton-based club are to be played on October 11, after which all club operations will shut down. Members were informed of the sale in a letter sent out by club owners McGee Construction on September 13, which set out the timetable for closure following the club’s purchase by a company called Storm Golf. In a statement, club manager Ryan McGee said: “While I appreciate this is disappointing news for our members, I can confirm that Caddington Golf…
Essex have won the English Men’s County Championship for just the second time ever, and the first time since 2009, after a tense final-day win over Gloucestershire at Whittington Heath Golf Club in Staffordshire. After Essex edged the Sunday morning foursomes, Lincolnshire meanwhile were looking to win their first – and only – title since 1974, but needed to beat Cumbria and hope Gloucestershire could do them a favour. There was still hope for Cumbria and Gloucestershire, who could still win the event themselves if results went their way. Lincolnshire went about their business with a fine 6-3 win over…
The United States continued its dominance of the Presidents Cup with 18½-11½ win over the International team. The US led 11-7 before Sunday’s 12 singles matches, needing just 4½ points on the final day to defend their title in Canada. Xander Schauffele set the Americans on their way with a 4&3 victory over Australian Jason Day in the opening contest. Team USA secured further full points through Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay, leaving them close to victory despite world No.1 Scottie Scheffler being beaten by Hideki Matsuyama. Canada’s Corey Conners claimed the biggest victory of the day as he thrashed…
Scotland’s Euan Walker produced a sensational final round to win the Swiss Challenge after the tournament was reduced to 36 holes at Golf Saint Apollinaire. Following a three-hour weather delay on Thursday and the entirety of play being washed out on Saturday due to a flooded course, Walker returned to the tee on Sunday to fire a bogey-free six under par final round and secure a dominant three stroke win in Folgensbourg. Walker fired rounds of 69 and 66 to reach nine under par and finish two clear of Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan and Englishman Bradley Bawden, who shared second place…
