LIV Golf has withdrawn its bid to have its 54-hole, no-cut events recognised by the Official World Golf Ranking. The Saudi-backed tour originally applied to the OWGR board to obtain ranking points for its players back in July 2022, but after more than a year of deliberation that application was rejected last October. With no further movement from either side, the LIV Golf League formally withdrew its on-going application today (March 5). “We have made significant efforts to fight for you and ensure your accomplishments are recognised within the existing ranking system,” LIV Golf CEO and commissioner Greg Norman wrote…
Joaquin Niemann further underlined why the Masters committee found it within themselves to issue the 25-year-old Chilean with a special invitation to play at Augusta next month when he ran away with the LIV Golf League’s event in Saudi Arabia. The league’s homecoming event to the country which is funding its very existence failed to draw much of a crowd, but that didn’t seem to overly bother Neimann as he swept to another $4m pay day after finishing on 17 under par for 54 holes in Jeddah. Niemann shot a final round 66 on Sunday to claim a four-stroke victory…

Prior to the change, dropping was instead done from shoulder…
Q. First round back in nearly 12 years. How would you sum it up? ANTHONY KIM: Obviously disappointed with the score (+6) , but I played much better than the score. I’ve got a lot to build on. Just made a lot of unforced errors, and that was unfortunate, but I feel like I’m not that far away. Q. Did you have those kind of expectations, given 12 years of rust basically? ANTHONY KIM: I would be lying to say that I didn’t have certain expectations. At least even if I played bad, I thought I would shoot around par. It was…

Brooks, you won your second LIV Golf Jeddah championship, and you also claimed your individual season championship here last year. Positive memories coming back for you both? BROOKS KOEPKA: For me, yeah. Maybe not as much Talor. But coming here back-to-back champ feels good. I like this golf course. I’ve obviously played well, so some familiarity, I guess.
