The Solheim Cup is back! For the first time in three editions, the United States arrive at the event as defending champions, following a 15.5-12.5 victory in 2024. Stacy Lewis led her side to success at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club, following two successful defences by Team Europe.

The Solheim Cup was first played in 1990 and follows the same format as the Ryder Cup which, last year, took place in the United States at Bethpage Black, New York. The American side will look to emulate last year’s European side by defending the cup on foreign soil.

The overall score in the tournament’s history sits at 11-7-1, with the Americans holding the advantage thanks to their dominance in the competition over its first two decades.

This year, Anna Nordqvist and Angela Stanford will lead their respective teams into battle, with both making their debuts as Solheim Cup captains, after illustrious playing careers in the event. Both are major winners and have represented their countries numerous times in the tournament.

Stanford has represented the American side on five occasions, winning three, while Nordqvist played in nine Solheim Cups, including the previous two as a playing vice-captain. She has been on the winning side in five of those appearances.

This year’s edition promises to be an incredible show of golf, with Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands making its debut as host to the competition. The Americans will seek to defend for the first time since 2017, while Team Europe will hope to reclaim the Solheim Cup on home soil.

What are the odds for the Solheim Cup?

The odds are extremely tight. With Bet365, Team USA are ever-so-slight favourites at 10/11, while Team Europe are currently 21/20 to take victory. The draw, a final score of 14-14 come the Sunday evening, is currently 11/1.

When and where will the Solheim Cup take place?

The 2026 Solheim Cup will be held from 11-13 September at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. The last venue in Europe to host the Solheim Cup was Finca Cortesin in 2023, with the two teams level at 14-14 at the conclusion of Sunday’s play, seeing Europe retain the trophy.

How can I get tickets for the Solheim Cup?

You can get tickets on the Solheim Cup 2026 website. Tickets are available for adults at $125 for all competition days, with those 16 or under given free entry. Bernardus Golf also offers multiple premium viewing experiences, such as the Tap Inn and the Brabant Pavilion.

You’ll have to act quickly, though, as the tournament begins soon.

Who won the last Solheim Cup?

Team USA won the last Solheim Cup, held in Gainesville, Virginia, defeating the European side by 15.5 to 12.5. This ended a run of two victories and a draw for Team Europe, who had retained the Solheim Cup since 2019.

Rose Zhang, a United States captain’s pick for 2026, was unbeaten in all four of her matches, scoring the most points out of any player in the event. Charley Hull scored the most points for Team Europe with three, including a Sunday Singles victory over world number one Nelly Korda.

Who are the captains for this year’s Solheim Cup?

Anna Nordqvist will lead Team Europe for the first time in 2026, having made nine playing appearances in the Solheim Cup. The Swede appeared in five winning European teams, alongside features in the previous two events as a playing vice captain. The three-time major winner was victorious in 17 of her Solheim Cup matches, securing 8.5 points for the Europeans. She retired from playing professional golf last week after the conclusion of the FM Championship, ending an 18-year professional career.

Team USA will be led by another debutant, Angela Stanford. The one-time major champion played in six Solheim Cups, including five successive events between 2007 and 2015. The United States won the competition three times across her appearances, despite only winning four of her 20 matches in the Solheim Cup.

Both captains have made their captains picks for the upcoming tournament. Nordqvist selected Leona Maguire, Julia Lopez Ramirez, Mimi Rhodes and Nastasia Nadaud while Stanford called up Rose Zhang, Megan Khang and Lindy Duncan.

How can I watch the Solheim Cup?

The Solheim Cup will be broadcast live around the world by various broadcast partners. In the UK, you can watch it on Sky Sports Golf, with full coverage available for the event from September 11-13.

Days one and two will be available on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event from 6:30 am, while the final day coverage begins at 9 am, also on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event. The opening ceremony, held on Thursday, September 10, is also set to be available on Sky Sports.

How did the selection process for the Solheim Cup work?

Team Europe and Team USA have slightly differing qualification processes for players to get into their respective teams.

The top seven players on the US Solheim Cup points list at the end of the Qualifying Period were the first group of players into Team USA. They were joined by the top two players on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings (having not already qualified). Team captain Angela Stanford then selected three players to complete the team.

The LET Solheim Cup Points list provided the first two members of Team Europe. Then, the six highest-ranked players on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings (having not already qualified) automatically qualified. Captain Anna Nordqvist then had four picks to round out Team Europe.
