After squeaking inside the cut line, Tiger Woods played his best round of the week on Saturday in Round 3 as he jumped several spots on the Genesis Invitational leaderboard following a 4-under 67.Woods, who will now have a late-morning tee time in the final round on Sunday, doesn’t have a chance to win at Riviera but thrilled nonetheless on Saturday with two birdies on his front nine (the back nine on the golf course) and an early eagle on his 10th hole (the par-5 first hole on the course). It was Tiger’s first eagle since the 2020 Genesis Invitational.…
What if I told you that, for me, the best part of the Masters has nothing to do with the golf? Introducing the Air Max 1 G “Always Fresh”, the best (or worst) shoe we’ve seen this year. Each spring leading up to the Masters, soft-goods manufacturers open the creative floodgates with one goal in mind: to make the best Masters-themed gear. It’s my favorite time of the golf season because we get to see fun (often polarizing) designs like this one. The “Always Fresh” NIKE Air Max 1 G and its peachy perfection are a fitting overture for the…
USATSI Tiger Woods has been in the third round of the 2023 Genesis Invitational as a pair of early birdies got him into red figures. Still, despite the success, it has not been all smooth sailing for the 47-year-old as a wayward drive on the 13th — his fourth hole of the day — ended up finding a fan’s jacket pocket.”I pulled off my jacket and it [Tiger’s golf ball] fell right there,” the spectator told the rules official on site. “Right here, I haven’t moved. He’s security, he knows…If I could I would have pushed it out [towards the…
Getty Images LIV Golf has made its first offseason splash. Thomas Pieters, the No. 34-ranked player according to the Official World Golf Rankings, has signed to play in the PGA Tour rival league and will make his LIV debut next week in Mexico.Pieters, who has been a stud on the European Tour for much of his career and was a star at the 2016 Ryder Cup at Hazeltine, tweeted earlier this week that he was disappointed not to have gotten into this week’s Genesis Invitational. It turns out, there was a reason for that. James Corrigan of The Telegraph hinted…
For most of my formative years on the golf course, I had little to no knowledge of the impact of my shaft on my launch. Fortunately, I am older and wiser and have seen the light. In this post, I pay homage to the best high-launching iron shafts in each category for 2023. The best of the list features a range of graphite and steel shaft designs that cater to slow, mid and faster swing speeds, seeking a higher launch. I have also included the top pick for ladies and senior golfers in our ranks. What Types of Shafts…
Getty Images The cream has risen to the top of the leaderboard after two rounds at the 2023 Genesis Invitational. California native Max Homa will head into Saturday’s Round 3 play at Riviera Country Club in possession of the lead at 10 under. A winner here in 2021, Homa has gone onto to reign supreme up and down his home state as four of his six PGA Tour title reside in the Golden State. Homa will be featured in the final group of the day next to Jon Rahm and Keith Mitchell at 1:45 p.m. ET.In addition to Rahm, Collin Morikawa,…

Suitable for a range of players, PXG says the Xtreme is “one ball that does it all.” Retail price is $39.99. Available now. PXG Founder and CEO Bob Parsons has stated: “Everything we [PXG] do starts with a question: ‘Can we make a better product?’” As it relates to golf balls, for the better part of PXG’s existence, the answer was “no.” A Slick Failure When PXG engineers Brad Schweigert and Mike Nicolette left PING for PXG, certain contractual entanglements…
Tiger Woods will be around for the weekend at the 2023 Genesis Invitational. Turning in a 3-over 74 on Friday was how Woods followed up his opening round of 2-under 69 from Thursday to remain inside the top 65 at 1 over. The 15-time major champion found himself on the projected cut line for much of the afternoon, but as conditions toughened the likelihood of Woods making the cut became certain.”I did not putt well today, I blocked a lot of putts early and this is probably the highest score I could have shot today,” said Woods. “Probably should have…
What putting stroke do you operate with? Holding the answer to this question simplifies finding your next putter. While I utilize a slight arc stroke and prefer minor toe hang, players with straight strokes excel with a face balanced putter for limited rotation. In this post, I reveal the 7 best face balanced putters for 2023 to keep your putts on line. You will notice the mallet-style putter is the most common head design in this category, as the face balanced blade style putters are rare to find these days. John Paramor, the DP World Tour’s former chief referee, whose career spanned six decades, has died aged 67. Paramor, who retired from his duties as the tour’s lead rules official in 2020, had been suffering from cancer. An accomplished golfer in his own right, Paramor was a former Surrey amateur champion, but his natural interest in golf’s rules book led him to specialise as a referee and the sight of him on the fairways soon become commonplace at European Tour events and Major Championships around the world throughout his storied career. He joined the European Tour as an administrator in…
